Is Archery that sport you have always
wanted to try? Would you like to take up a sport that gives you gentle
exercise, improves concentration and also helps posture, core strength and
stamina? Do you shoot bows on games and want to feel what it s like IRL? Would
you like to spend time with others but still be able to focus on your own
personal goals?
A Taster Session is the best way to
find out more, get hands-on experience and be among other archers. It will give
you an idea of whether archery is for you! Lasting about an hour, we provide
everything you need, including plenty of safety information and flexible
coaching and support. A £15 charge is made for this opportunity, and if you
decide to continue your archery journey with us, we will reduce the
Beginners course by £10.

The next step is a Beginners Course, you can sign up online or at the
taster session, our dates are below, along with the taster session times and
dates.
The course
runs for a minimum of 9 hours; this can be set up in a variety of ways. Usually
weekly, over a set of 3 x 3 hours, on a Sunday, this allows our candidate
archers to meet and shoot alongside our regular club members who attend the
Sunday Session.
We have
Archery GB trained and qualified coaches, alongside some experienced and
enthusiastic club members who will be there with you, every step of your
archery journey.
We will do our best to try and be
flexible around your needs and availability.
Our beginners course costs:
£75 for Over 18yrs
£50 for Juniors / under 18yrs
At the end of the course, you will
receive a certificate of competence in archery that is Archery GB recognised
and will allow you to become a member of any UK club.
However,
we will also invite you to become a member of Griffin Archers.
Taster Session – 19th April @ 1pm

- Under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- From 16 to 18 years, we recognise your need to be independent and can work with you to make this possible, and acceptable for both parents and you as an individual.
Equipment and Safety

- We accept anyone and everyone that wishes to take part, and are very disability inclusive
- Our venue is wheelchair accessible
We provide all equipment you could possibly need on the Beginners Course – so just bring yourself!
Every archer should:
- Wear closed-toe shoes (Sandals, Flip-Flops, Crocs etc, are not acceptable footwear for a range)
- Tie back long hair (if applicable)
- Not wear any loose clothing or any garment that has ‘ties’ which could catch in a string

A safety talk, warm-up and cool-down exercises are included to prevent muscle injury. Our coaches are trained to ensure you are doing everything as safely as possible. It is essential you listen to our coaches and follow their instructions, as everything they say is for the safety of yourself and others.
Of course, we need to remember that this is classified as a dangerous sport, therefore we want to set you off on the right path for safety alongside the enjoyment, personal achievement and even the social aspects. Archery is actually one of the safest sports you can try? It’s true! Archery is safer than football, rugby, basketball, baseball and even golf.
